A short introduction
The term “skilled work” refers to a self-written work for the performance testing of students in Europe. The technical work is a kind of final thesis in the upper level. She can also be introduced to the Abitur. The choice of the topic of the work usually takes place through an agreement with the teacher. The criteria of a thesis are similar to a university thesis: This gives the student a first insight into the scientific work.
The work is regulated differently in different United states. At the end of the 12th grade students have to write a written paper on eight to twelve pages. For the preparation six weeks time are provided. The technical work is an important element for the preparation for the studies.
- Write a thesis quickly and correctly!
- Choose a theme and limit it
- Note the requirements of your school
- Plan the working time and the -pensum
- Get familiar with the topic, search appropriate scientific literature
- Pay attention to your written language, use technical terms
- This creates a reasonable work!
The thesis replaces the exam in a selected basic course subject. The teacher decides whether to replace the first or the second exam. Before you start working, you can suggest your first and second wishes for the subject to your subject teacher. Getting advice from your teacher is smart. Think about an alternative topic in any case, because initial wishes can not always be realized with many students in a course.
When it’s clear which subject you write the work in, consider a topic. If your teacher has accepted the topic, discuss the deadline with him. Your topic should be precise and understandable. Since the teacher must first accept the proposal, prepare for the conversation as much as possible to convince him. Create a list of questions in advance and collect all necessary information about the work. The questions should predominantly relate to the first steps of the specialist work (question, material search, technique, design). From your teacher you will receive a form in which all important points such as topic, counseling sessions and deadline are noted. If you do not take the initiative and propose your own topic, the subject teacher will give you a topic. Once the topic is fixed, you can not change it. At each school, a schedule is created and the processing time is determined. Under certain conditions, e.g. Illness, can be discussed by extending the deadline.
If the topic choice is made, start with the search:
What sources are available and how much time can one devote to search? Information is usually found nearby: in libraries, special institutes or institutions, offices, etc. If you have decided on a source, first look in the table of contents to see if the book is really suitable. You should sort out all that is unnecessary and just put the matching books on the research pile. With the right, precise question, it is often sufficient to have a few literature sources. So the search for material is not difficult.
You can also ask your teacher about the necessary sources. The best way to do this is to skim the text, mark the keywords in the text and write a short summary. However, the information used in the work should not come from just one source. The best way to write out the sources immediately, which saves work and you have a list of sources. It can be very helpful to look in advance to see which papers have already been written, and there is a list at each school.
Create a work plan:
- Find the topic
- The search for the required literature
- View and divide the collected material
- The first draft
- Present practical work (if available)
- The writing of the technical work in the fair copy
- Proofreading (leave)
- The levy
Also appointments such as the topic application and counseling sessions, should be noted.
The technical work has a scope of eight to twelve pages (a possible attachment is not included). The work should not be written by hand, but created on a PC. The font size is 12 pts and should have a 1.5-fold line spacing. The pages are printed on one side and have to be numbered. The exception is the cover sheet and the table of contents. The work itself is neatly bound and delivered, for example, in a folder.
How the work is structured:
- The cover sheet (without page)
- The table of contents (without page)
- The introduction with the question of the topic
- The main part
- The end
- The literature
- The attachment (if available)
- The final word
Note these hints in your work!
The content of an academic thesis consists of an introduction, the main part and the conclusion. The introduction should introduce the topic and clarify the center of gravity by establishing your choice of topic, referring to the seminar, and leading the most important questions around the topic. There are different ways to organize the introduction of the technical work. The main part is divided into chapters and deals with the question asked at the beginning. All chapters should have a function and be subdivided into chapters. In the end, the topic is brought to the point again and summarized the work, with the end, the question asked at the beginning should be answered.
For a scientific work (seminar, master, bachelor thesis etc.) it is very important to use the literature correctly. The main point is the citation. If the writing is not yours, the author of the quote must be mentioned. When quoting something, it is important to visually point out that the passage is not self-contained, with quotation marks. For longer quotes, other rules apply. If the quote is longer than 3 lines, you do not have to put it in quotation marks, but before the section calls the author.
A complete work includes a bibliography: each line begins with the surname of the author / publisher. If the source is from multiple authors, all must be enumerated.
One should always participate in the process of counseling with the subject teacher. So you should also prepare properly for the consultation in order to effectively continue his work. The following should be brought to the conversation:
- The collected material (books, internet printout)
- The structure of the work
- The scheduled / scheduled time of work
- Prepared questions to ask the teacher
The result of this conversation can be very helpful in the further work. It may be that the teacher puts you back on track if you get lost or get stuck. The topic can be specified, some aspects are discarded, new ones arise.
